Our current board members have taken detailed notes of their responsibilities and will be available to train incoming board members.
Many responsibilities can be handled outside of school hours, so please inquire if you have questions about your schedule -- we're happy to share our experiences about how we make it work with other obligations!
President
- coordinate efforts of all areas of the PTO,
- attend district PTO president meetings,
- communicate with Principal and Central Office,
- preside over meetings,
- represent the PTO when needed, and
- see to other duties as they arise
Secretary
- take meeting minutes,
- man the PTO's email account, and
- coordinate meeting locations with the school
Treasurer
- keep a detailed account of all money coming in and out of PTO via QuickBooks,
- make disbursements approved by PTO,
- create budget,
- provide monthly budget statements, and
- file taxes
VP Membership
- promote PTO memberships to all BMSS families,
- define membership levels,
- follow through on membership deliverables/raffles,
- coordinate teacher grant requests, and
- follow through on grant deliverables
VP Corporate Sponsorships
- visit businesses in the BMSS community to negotiate annual sponsorship agreements,
- define sponsorship levels,
- ensure we deliver on sponsorship promises such as giving social media shout outs,
- coordinate Spirit Nights (aka, cash back events) with local businesses
VP Communication
- maintain BMSS PTO's Facebook and Instagram accounts,
- coordinate communication with the school,
- develop newsletters, as needed, and
- coordinate with other board members to ensure all PTO events are communicated to BMSS families
Co-VP Staff Appreciation
- organize staff appreciation events, which typically occur once a month,
- maintain an appreciation calendar for all non-teacher staff holidays,
- shout out the staff, especially during Teacher Appreciation Week in May
Co-VP Fun(d) Food Days
- organize the ordering, setup, and execution of Chick-Fil-A days, which are typically held about 3-4 times per year,
- define any other Fun(d) Food Day events and, if funding is necessary, secure a sponsor accordingly, and
- coordinate volunteers for Fun(d) Food Day events
